While addressing the residents on Saturday during a burial ceremony of a former assistant chief Mathew Tarus, Chief Tanui alleged that child molestation by relatives and other disgruntled elements are rampant in most areas in Rongai.

He observed that many of incest and rape cases are never reported to law enforcers for legal action to be taken against the perpetrators, a fact that according to the chief, makes the vices to re occur.

“I am issuing a warning that those found withholding information against child molestation and rape cases will be arrested. You must report such incidences for the law to take its course. Such things continue happening because victims or relatives do not report them to the authorities,” said Tanui.

He added that as a member of the community, he knows that some information about incest and rape incidences are hidden by most of the community members over the years.

“It seems we do not understand the grave implications of rape and incest on the lives of the victims. We must be aware that such vices are very dangerous. Those who will be found guilty will serve as an example,” added Tanui.

Tanui also said that his office was investigating several cases of incest and rape and that perpetrators will be arrested and charged in court once investigations are completed.
