The Nakuru County Service Board has come to the spotlight once more after a report by the Auditor General revealed that it's members had overpaid themselves by a whopping Sh3.1 million.
In what could signify extent of wastage and corruption going on in many devolved units, the Auditor General named the five members of the board who irregularly received excess money in the year ending June 2015.
The report indicates that the board's chair Waithanji Mutiti and secretary James Mbugua received Sh20,000 monthly each as mileage allowance contrary to a circular made by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission in 2014.
Further, the report show that Mutiti received Sh168,000 while Mbugua received Sh546,000 in the year under review.
Richard Tutah and Francisca Kamuren are other members mentioned in the report to have recieved Sh515, 305 each.
At the same time, Peter Mbae and Monica Cherutich received Sh506,400 respectively while Peter Mwirania got Sh365, 116.
