A report on the recount of votes in four Marakwet East polling stations was on Thursday presented before the Eldoret High Court.

Justice George Kimondo ordered for the recount in relation to a petition challenging MP Kangogo Bowen’s win.

The recount of votes was done in Cheptany Primary School, Mungwa Primary School, Mungwa Dispensary and Kumbulul Primary School polling stations.

Justice Kimondo further ordered the scrutiny of all forms 34A against forms 34B in 14 polling stations in the constituency.

Some of the polling stations include Mkeno Primary, Kapchelag Wool Shade, Sambirir Primary school, Sambalat Primary School, Maron Primary School and nine other stations.

The court ordered that the report is submitted to all the parties upon payment of the legal fees.Parties were also directed to file and exchange submissions within 21 days.

"Submissions should be a maximum of 15 pages on one and a half line spacing of font 12. Electronic copies should be also filed with the registrar one day before the mention of the petition," directed Justice Kimondo.

Mention on the matter has been set for January 16, 2018, for confirmation of compliance and planning of the judgment date.

The petition was filed by a voter Sammy Kemboi seeking nullification of the Marakwet East Parliamentary election on the basis that it was marred with massive irregularities.
