A recent cholera case has been reported in Kilifi County prompting the locals to be put on high alert.

According to reports, the outbreak is believed to have come from Kiwandani Village, with eight other cases currently being investigated.

Five victims are believed to have been in contact with a child who had recently passed away after being diagnosed with cholera.

Bilali Mazoya Kilifi County Director of Health said that on Wednesday three more incidents were reported

Two of the victims were attended to and released shortly after, while the other had to be taken to the hospital

According to Dr Mazoya medical facilities in Kilifi County have been informed of the outbreak.

"We have set up a Cholera treatment center at Kiwandani Dispensary to manage the identified cases and any other subsequent cases from the locality,” he said as reported by the Daily Nation. “The child had been admitted to a private health institution but soon after the death, five of the family members who came into contact with the child later tested positive of cholera and admitted to the Kiwandani Dispensary,” added Dr Mazoya.
