The High Court has upheld the nomination of Jennifer Shamalla to the National Assembly by Jubilee Party. 

On Tuesday, Judge Stella Mutuku declared Shamalla’s nomination valid and exonerated Jubilee party from blame following her nomination to represent the marginalised.

She said no law was violated by the party in picking the lawyer.

Mutuku threw out an an application by former IEBC commissioner Aden Noor Ali contesting her nomination. 

Mutuku said, “No evidence was adduced to support the claims by the petitioner. Consequently, the court concludes the respondent was validly nominated.”

The court rejected assertions by Noor the chairperson of the PSC disobeyed a directive by the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal not to gazette Shamalla until matters were resolved.
