Former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar, on Monday withdrew his petition challenging a High court ruling that upheld the election of Governor Ali Joho as the Mombasa county Governor.
Omar had filed a petition in court challenging Governor Joho's win, citing irregularities during votes counting and tallying, thus favouring Governor Joho's win.
Joho and Omar have been at loggerheads for a long time over the Mombasa county Gubernatorial position, which Joho won with a landslide.
Governor Joho too withdrew a petition he had filed in court seeking to quash Omar's appeal case.
Both lawyers representing Joho and Omar also agreed to scale down Sh4 million which was to be paid to Joho and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, to Sh1.5 million.
The two politicians have in the past openly faced off in the rare view of the public, with Hassan Omar constantly referring to Joho as an academic dwarf.
