Nation Media Group received a major boost on Sunday following he decision by Siaya Senator James Orengo to ‘lift’ a temporary ban he had imposed on the newspaper.
Prior to elections, Orengo had accused the paper of allegedly being used by government to frustrate the opposition and appealed to NASA supporters to boycott reading its content.
Although it’s not clear whether the sanction yielded fruits, Orengo changed his tune and urged supporters to start consuming the Nation Media Group product since it has ‘improved’ in reporting.
“Before I forget, I want to urge you to start buying Daily Nation paper. They have substantially improved and we should drop the ban,” Orengo said at Kitengela.
He added:”We called for impartial reporting and that is what we have seen lately. I urge all NASA supporters to now start consuming the product.”
Among the controversial issues that NASA accused Nation of misreporting include alleged corrupt deals by Jimmy Wanjigi, a close supporter of Raila Odinga and a major financier.
Following Orengo’s directive to boycott Nation paper, photos emerged online in which perceived NASA supporters burnt a number of newspapers in solidarity with the opposition.
