A case filed by a university student that led to freezing of North Mugirango CDF account has been unconditionally withdrawn.
Mr. Frank Anyona, who sued MP Charles Geni over misusing of CDF funds, has since claimed that the lawyer who took up the matter forged his signature.
The Nyamira High Court had barred Mr. Geni and Constituency Chief Accounting officer from withdrawing money from account and also from using CDF van.
However, social media went crazy following withdrawal of the case with a number of residents accusing the student of being bribed.
“He was chest thumping that he was behind the case and now says he is not aware. He must have been given something,” said Janny Kerry.
Another user said: “This is dirty money at work. The boy swore an affidavit and it’s ridiculous that he can distance himself,” added Eric Mwambi.
Mr. Anyona also claimed the case had taken a political angle adding that he was no longer interested to pursue the matter.
And the turnout of events now gives Mr. Geni, an ally of Raila Odinga freedom to utilize the funds before official dissolution of parliament.
