IDPs have urged the government to resettle them even as they cerebrate their victory at the International Criminal Court (IDP). The victims of the post-election violence that happened in 2007/8 have asked the government to give them alternative homes even as they plan to hold a thanks giving ceremony at Afraha Stadium on Saturday.

Speaking at Mumoi IDP camp in Nakuru on Wednesday, the 772 victims said that eight (8) years afterwards they're still suffering in camps.

"Its now eight years. We're grateful that the president and his deputy are off the hook of the ICC. Even as they come at Afraha this weekend,we want to be given proper attention and resettled," said their chairman, Sam Muchiri.

The victims have hinted the challenges they've been going through over the years.

"Our children are living in poor conditions, our tents raining badly and poor sanitation in this place is really upsetting," said Naomi Wanjira, one of the victims at Mumoi camp. The 772 families at Mumoi at the border of Nakuru, Laikipia and Baringo counties are said to have benefitted from the compensation the government issued earlier this year but they're yet to relocate.

The victims says as the leaders cerebrate their victory, they too would want to cerebrate resettlement.

"Our president and his deputy should also see to it that we cerebrate by giving us places to live as other families. We too are Kenyans and we should be given decent living," said Grace Wairimu, a victim at the camp.

The government had said that the last batch of victims had benefitted earlier this year and all IDP camps should be closed down .
