The reshuffling of returning officers all over the country will go on, IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati has said.
This comes even as opposition coalition NASA continues to scrutinise the electoral body’s preparations for the August general election.
The National Super Alliance (Nasa) had accused the polls body of appointing returning officers without consultation.
While addressing the press during the launch of devolution of electoral services in Narok, Chebukati said the reshuffling will ensure there is fairness during the general elections.
“All returning officers are moving away from their home Constituencies and Counties, so that we don’t have someone familiar with the environment being a returning officer in an area,” Chebukati said.
He said fairness must be evident, “We can’t talk of fairness if it cannot be seen.”
The IEBC boss affirmed that their systems were in place, adding that even voter verification is ongoing.
“Verification of voters is ongoing, and that’s a process towards preparing the complete register,” he said.
