Tuesday night was a beehive of activities as Nyumba Kumi leaders summoned the residents within their areas of operation to peace meetings owing to the tension that was fast emerging with reports indicating that it was a war between the Nubian community and the Luo speakers.

According to Karanja residents, tension emerged when a section of rowdy youths stoned nearby Masjid Mosque issuing the false impression that the Muslims were in for a 'battle' with Christians, an issue that has since been discarded.

"Some goons pelted stones at Masjid Mosque ringing tension in the area. We are one, we have no issue with other tribes or religions," noted Wanja, a Christian follower in Karanja estate.

The situation on the ground has since been normalised with both the Nubian community embracing their fellow residents from other ethnic communities in peace talks.

The situation began as protests against the police for allegedly arresting opposition politicians before irresponsible youths exploited the situation to fuel tribal animosity.
