The residents have prepared two petitions to be presented before the National Assembly ahead of Maraga's vetting scheduled for next week.

The petition is based on a ruling made by Maraga in a case involving the killing of then Ainamoi MP David Too.

While serving at the Nakuru High Court, Maraga reduced the murder charge against the accused to manslaughter leading to a 10-year imprisonment.

The petition have been prepared area lawmaker Benjamin Langat and parliamentary seat aspirant Emmanuel Korir.

“The humble petitioners pray that the National Assembly does not approve his nomination to become Chief Justice and compels Justice Maraga to make an apology to the family of the deceased, the people of Ainamoi Constituency and the people of Kenya at large for his indiscretion and failure to uphold the Constitution,” reads part of the petition.

Maraga is expected to be vetted by the National Assembly after his name was approved by President Uhuru Kenyatta last week.
