Marani residents have been asked to visit health centres to know their HIV status to help reduce infections in Kisii County.
Speaking on Friday at Marani in Kitutu Chache North during an HIV stakeholder forum on performance review of the January to July 2015, Public Health Officer Dr Thomas Oirere said that the rate has increased as Kisii is ranked fifth nationwide. With this, Dr Oirere has urged residents to visit health centres to know their status.
“We have met here from all departments so that we can discuss on how to fight this disease since it's increasing,”said Dr Oirere.
He noted that the increase is a result of people not visiting health centres for testing.
“If infected, there are ways you can be helped to manage it. If not infected, you also can be told how to protect yourselves,” added Dr Oirere.
