Residents along the Kisii –Nyamira highway have been cautioned against erecting illegal bumps, and instead let the government do it.
According to Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) official in Nyamira Kennedy Ondabu, there has been a trend of erecting bumps in the area by residents, yet they know it is an offense.
The official added that those found erecting such bumps will be arrested and prosecuted by the authority.
“When they see a hot spot, they should report to the respective bodies so that an action is taken as soon as possible,” he added
The official added that in many occasions, the bumps are erected by residents who are being incited by local politicians for their own political gains.
“All bumps erected along Kisii-Nyamira highway are illegal and we currently know those who are behind the deals and we look forward to prosecute them,” he added.
The official said they are looking into adding more bumps along the highway to reduce the number of accident cases along the highway.
