Residents in Itare Village Nyaisero Sub-location in Kisii County are living in fear after six families were displaced from their houses when water started springing out from the floor of their houses following the torrential rains that are pounding the area.
Residents of Itare village, Kisii County who were displaced by floods now want the county government to help them.
Led by Rose Mokua they asked the National and County government to offer them an alternative area where they can settle until the rains are gone.
"We have nowhere to go and for that reason we want the county and national government to come in and assist in ensuring that we get a place to reside until the rains are gone," said Ms Mokua.
She said that her mother and three kids were injured as they scampered to safety.
Ms Mokua narrated how she was forced to stay out of the house that night as she took care of her belongings.
David Momanyi, a village elder asked locals to ensure that they assist the affected families by giving them shelter and food.
Kisii County administration Stakeholder minister Dr Walter Okibo said that 12 families had been displaced by the floods.
He said that the county government was working closely with the National Government with aim of assisting the affected families.
"I also ask Kisii residents to ensure that they move to safer areas for their own benefit," he said.
