The body, whose wounds did not clearly indicate whether this had been a case of murder or suicide, was discovered after a foul smell was detected around the stalls.

The police arrived on the scene immediately once notified by the members of the public, they attended to the incident and collected the body.

However, the identity of the deceased could not be establishes as she had no identification documents with her. The incident has accelerated fear and unrest as such cases have been on the rise around the town leaving more questions than answers.

“Within a period of two weeks, we have discovered two cases of this nature and we are yet to know whether it is a case of murder perpetrated at a different location and the bodies later dumped here or it is a case of normal suicide. We urge the police to beef up security and speed up investigations to curb such incidences,” said Eric Muhia, a resident.

The body was taken to Naivasha district hospital Mortuary. Elsewhere, in Industrial area, Naivasha, angry members of the public attacked and seriously injured a middle aged man accusing him of stealing ten plastic chairs.

The police arrived just before the mob lynched the suspect, salvaging the culprit and condemned the public for taking the law into their own hands.

They managed to arrest the suspect who was taken to Naivasha police station where he is being held waiting for the charges to be pressed on him.

Residents have in both these cases pleaded for the police to step up and beef up security.
