Makina area residents have applauded a move by the Nairobi County government to improve on the construction of the sewage line in the area.
Speaking at the site, the residents argued that it is time for the people to enjoy living in a clean environment free from pollution.
Thomas Gikobu, a resident of Makina village, said that the construction of the sewage line will help stagnant dirty water in the blocked drainage to flow freely thus bad smells will not be there.
"We have been suffering living in a polluted environment due to blocked trenches where sewage flows through. We are happy finally the county government has turned out to ensure that we live in a clean environment," he said.
Deborah Obaga said that during rainy seasons, sewage wastes flow into their houses something that risks their health. During rainy periods, you could find human wastes carried by flooding rain waters into living houses due to the blocked sewage lines and trenches. This time round the county has rescued us since as residents we have been worried of future health," she stated.
"We need a good environment like others who lives in luxurious estates. It is our hope that the whole sewage line construction and upgrading will be done on a regular basis since the sewage lines at time blocks, "remarked Clement Ochieng'.
