Residents of Manyani estate on the outskirts of Nakuru town have raised alarm over the spilling sewerage, saying that it is endangering their lives.
Speaking at Manyani trading centre where the sewerage had almost covered the pot holes on the road, the residents urged the county government to take action immediately and help salvage the situation.
They said innocent children are at a high risk of contracting waterborne diseases as they step in dirty water and some have made the sewerage a place of play.
They also claimed lack of fresh air, stating that the situation may affect their breathing system.
Violet Nyongesa, a business woman in the area said the situation is worse and nobody would like to pass on the streets at trading centre.
"The situation is affecting our businesses as nobody would like to pass through here," said Nyongesa.
She said the poisonous gas coming from dirty water is affecting the entire estate.
George Awiti, a resident, said the situation needs quick attention before it gets worse.
