The landlords from Mwembe, Nyanchwa and Jogoo areas said that they do not have a place to dump garbage.“We have a problem in Kisii county and its time we became honest about the lack of space where we can dump garbage,” said Eliakim Osoro who owns apartments in Jogoo and Mwembe area. This was echoed by Mary Ratemo who owns an apartment at Nyanchwa, she said that her tenants were forced to throw garbage outside the compound.
This comes just a day after the county government issued a warning to all residents not to dump their garbage.
This, the County Government said was to give time to the county government to collect garbage accumulating within the town. "We are suffering as we don't know where to dump garbage since the County government issued a warning,” said Mr Henry Kebwaro. Public health chairman Dr Pius Ombuki told hivisasa that all the necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure the collection starts soon."Let me assure all the residents that we are working tirelessly with the health sector to ensure the collection and transportation of garbage from residential skips will start soon," he said.
