Nakuru County Commissioner Mohamed Birik has called on locals to be ambassadors of peace support intiatives being taken by both the national and county governments to boost development.

Speaking to the press on Tuesday, Birik said that residents have a responsibility to ensure they coexist peacefully.

He said that peace is critical if the county is to realise its developement agenda adding that peace campaigns will be launched to educate residents on the need for pecae.

“I want to challenge Nakuru residents to take up the initiative of preaching peace and unity,” said the commissioner.

Birik said that youths and women should be the people leading peace campaigns in the county. He said that young people have skills that can help bring people together while women have appealing hearts that can reach out many people.

On security matters, the commissioner said that no criminal gang will be spared out in the county. He said that police are working around the clock to boost serveillance and deal with any kind of crime.

The commissioner said that police have increased patrols especially in urban centers adding that residents should cooperate with themas they seek to streamline security.

On the same note, the commissioner said that the war on highway criminals is bearing fruit saying incidents of carjackings and robbings on th ehighway have reduced.

He said police will continue to patrol the highway until when all highway robbers will be wiped out.
