Lari Deputy County Commissioner Mr Benard Kinyua has raised concern over lack of cooperation among residents of Kimende, Kiambu Sub-County.
Kinyua said the residents are not willing to work with the security agents in stamping out insecurity in the area.
Speaking to residents at Kimende shopping centre on Friday, the deputy county commissioner said the government will not relent in the fight against criminal activity which was being abetted by people shielding their kin who had criminal records.
Kinyua said he had received complaints from the security apparatus in the area to the effect that residents were not participating in the Nyumba Kumi initiative which aims at identifying residents and any visitors coming to Kimende.
“Kimende residents must be ready to work with those entrusted to provide security to them so that there are no gaps, to enable the security agents to work with ease,” said Kinyua.
The deputy commissioner said the government had the responsibility of providing a peaceful environment to its citizens for the purposes of development, and that it could only succeed in doing so if the people being offered the service appreciated by reporting vital information to authorities.
“Security is a responsibility for everyone and anyone found harbouring people of suspicious character with no fixed abode in their neighborhoods will be dealt with accordingly,” said Kinyua.
