Kisumu county Chief Executive in charge of ICT Michael Oduor Onyango said the only way residents can become informed and connected to global development is by embracing ICT.

He further highlighted the commitment the county government is having to make the use of ICT in Kisumu to be a culture.

Mr Onyango further said the Kisumu county government is trying to digitize most of their operations in a bid o promote the use of ICT.

He said the government is trying to roll out a programme where county jobs are only applied online and at the same time tenders are also applied online, which he said is going to be tried soon to test on its effectiveness.

According to Mr Onyango, the fact that many people in the area have bought smartphones is an indicator that residents are fast embracing a new way of doing things.

"I challenge all the residents of Kisumu and its environs to fully embrace the use of ICT as it comes with numerous opportunities and benefits. It is a new way of life globally and as Kisumu, we are not an exception. It is something that s now becoming part of our daily life," he said at his office yesterday.
