Machakos County commissioner Anne Gakuria wants residents to maintain peace ahead of the New Year celebrations.

Addressing the media at her office in Machakos on Monday, the commissioner urged the residents to continue exercising peace.

The commissioner said: “I want to laud Machakos people for maintaining peace. The Christmas period has been peaceful as no major crimes were reported.”

Gakuria lauded the residents for exercising calm over Christmas saying the same should be maintained.

She said that the police will remain on alert and would deal accordingly with lawbreakers.

The commissioner intimated that 24-hour patrols will be conducted with aim of weeding out criminals.

Gakuria at the same time urged owners of entertainment joints and hotels to be vigilant and ensure that their customers are well checked.

She said that nothing should be left to chance stating that security of Kenyans is what matters.

On the ‘Macha’ concert scheduled to run until January 2, the commissioner assured that security has been catered for.
