Uasin Gishu County Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has urged residents living in flood prone areas to move to safer grounds amid onset of long rains.
"We want to caution our residents that the long rains will soon be here with us, they should take precaution and find safer places to avoid loss of lives and property as witnessed last year," he said on Tuesday.
He said the areas which residents have been urged to vacate includes Sosiani River, Huruma, Langas, Turbo, Kipkabus Dam and Keses.
"Last year, 20 families were displaced at Kipkabus dam and we don't want a repeat of the same, that's why we are asking people to move from food prone areas," he said.
