Nyamira county commissioner Isaiah Nakoru has called on area residents to turn up in their numbers to participate in the Thursday presidential repeat elections.

Speaking earlier in the week, Nakoru affirmed the state's commitment to providing security to everyone on election day.

He noted that the government has laid down mechanisms to ensure that the elections run smoothly without any security hitches.

‘‘We should not listen to those telling us to boycott the election because we all know that voting is a constitutional right,’’ he said.

Nakoru further cautioned those planning to disrupt the process, remarking that a stern action will be taken against all election saboteurs.

‘‘Our security officials are ready to ensure that the voters are safe on voting day. So we call upon residents to come out and vote on Thursday,” he remarked.

On his part, NASA leader Raila Odinga has urged his supporters to boycott the process, citing lack of electoral reforms within IEBC.
