Kisii Central ward residents are getting more enlightened on civic education in matters leadership and how to participate in an electoral process.
According to Boniface Onchagwa who is the organiser and who is eyeing for the MCA seat, he said that the education will help residents.
“Today on our first day of civic education in Kisii Central ward, I and my team met more than 200 women where we enlightened them on matters devolution, employment opportunities, ward bursaries and county tenders,” said Onchagwa.
He also added that they had an opportunity to listen and note down their grievances of which they will air to the relevant authorities for appropriate action.
Among the issues they want the residents to know is that the bursaries are government initiatives, not individual projects.
They need to know who should benefit and by how much.
Onchagwa said that this will give them a chance to address the irregular distribution of these bursaries where relatives of politicians and individuals not meant to benefit are awarded.
He also said that they want the people to know the importance of registering as voters and voting.
“We will discuss the issue of employment in the county. We shall let the people know how many slots in the county their ward has been given overtime from 2013 to 2016, who are the beneficiaries of these jobs and their qualifications,” added Onchagwa.
