Speaking at Tombe market on Monday, the residents were unanimous that the contractor be given an ultimatum of one month to complete the project that has stalled for over three months despite releasing of funds by the government.

“We are completely aggrieved with the process of construction," said Amenya Ondeyo, a resident.

"This place is impassable whether in rainy or sunny season. We been assured by the authorities that the government released funds long ago but nothing has taken place.”

He said that area MP Timothy Bosire had tipped them of the compliance of central government but the contractors have absconded their duty.

“Our MP had told us last week that the government has nothing to do with the delay hence these contractors are not justified with delay. We want them to take full responsibility or else we go to streets,” he added.

They asked Transport CS Michael Kamau to intervene before the situation escalates.

H-Young contractors Director Vindry Patel defended his company from the scathing attacks and promised to end the project as planned before June, 2015.

“We have heard their complaints but it’s untrue that nothing is going on. We have hired some government machines so that we complete the project as planned by the ministry.”
