The residents said Governor James Ongwae should make necessary changes in the team because the current workers have failed.
“The county won’t afford to pay workers huge sum of money yet they don’t perform. Residents raised alarm early when the fire broke but the firefighters arrived at the scene several hours later. A lot of property was destroyed by fire because residents could not contain it since it spread too fast,” said Augustine Obwoge.
Obwoge said the county has until January 15 to sack the firefighters who have failed or residents to hold peaceful demos to push for their removal.
Joel Nyamote said the county government should help the affected people start life afresh.
“Affected families should be helped with food and cash to start a new life because the fire reduced them to be beggars. Governor Ongwae should intervene to ensure the families get support for the children of the affected families who will be going back to school next year,” said Nyamote.
