Usain Gishu residents have been blamed for the increased sale and consumption of illicit liquor in the county.

Uasin Gishu Alcoholic Drinks and Control Board Director Silas Boit said residents don’t report such individuals who have put the peoples lives at risk.

"It sad that despite us trying hard to fight this scam residents have failed us by hiding those involved in the sale of illegal alcohol thus making our efforts futile," he said in Eldoret town, Thursday.

"I want to urge wananchi to act as our watchdog by informing us on the people involved in this illegal business. We cannot fight it alone we need concerted efforts for our future generation to be secured the public should come out and give relevant information," he added.

He, however, reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring no illicit liquor is sold in the licensed alcohol selling points.

“We will be conducting regular operations aimed at arresting and prosecuting individuals and business involved in the sale of the illicit alcohol by will working closely with the police and other agencies in a bid to ensure that we succeed,” noted Boit.
