Residents of Kanjuku, Chania Ward in Gatundu North are currently blocking the Kanjuku-Thika Road after a man was killed by a speeding matatu yester night.
Another was rushed to Igegania Hospital in a critical condition from the same accident.
According to area MCA George Ng'ang'a Muthua who has already arrived at the area, ten people have died on the road for lack of speed bumps in the past one year.
The angry residents have vowed not to let the police take away the body until the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) addresses them.
"The residents have maintained that the body will remain here until KENHA brings construction people to start putting up the bumps," said Muthua.
Muthua has said that this is not the first time the residents are demonstrating on the same issue seeing that last time they demonstrated they were promised that the bumps would be erected in two weeks which is yet to be done.
"This is the last death that will occur here. We will not leave here until the construction of the bumps begins. People are tired of false promises and reactive statements that neither revive the dead nor revert to normal those who have been maimed here," asserted Muthua.
