According to the Nation, the angry residents chased the Form Four student’s family out of their compound before setting the houses ablaze.

The mob also destroyed crops, slaughtered two cows and several hens to vent their anger.

The uncle, who had been stabbed with a knife, died in hospital and his body moved to Nyansiongo mortuary. The suspect is still at large.

The victim’s brother, Robert Nyambane, said they were alerted by a distress call from residents who had rushed to help the victim as he lay injured at his gate.

“Residents slaughtered livestock and poultry, cut down crops and destroyed property belonging to the suspected killer’s family in an act of revenge,” added Manga Assistant Chief Charles Karaya.

“Two wrongs do not make a right. Let us learn not to break the law in order to protest another unlawful act by rogue elements,” he said, while urging residents not to take the law into their own hands.
