On Tuesday, water shortage had hit Kinanie area in Machakos county.
There was a fault with the only water pump in the area and it took two days for it to be fixed.
On Wednesday, many residents of Kinanie including farmers and students were forced to go down to 'mto Mawe' river for water.
I watched with horror as students and farmers risked their lives to draw water from the swollen river.
At the section that connects Kinanie market to Waridi flower farm, there are two bridges.
One of the bridge was completely immersed in water. The other bridge (pictured) is the only one that survived the wrath of the raging waters.
It has been raining heavily for the past two weeks in Machakos and the river has been threatening to burst its banks.
Kinanie-Athi road is in a very deplorable state with pools of water right in the middle of the road hampering transport in the area.
Relevant authorities should step in to caution residents of Kinanie to avoid fetching water from 'mto Mawe' while it has burst its banks. They are risking lives!
