Residents of Naivasha sub-county are committed towards finding a lasting solution to the persistent land problems in the area, sub-county commissioner Abraham Kemboi has said.
Speaking Monday morning at his office when he received county land officials led by County Lands Executive Rachael Maina, Kemboi said that he has spoken to the residents and all they want is an end to the perennial land conflicts that are bedeviling Naivasha.
Kemboi said that the lives of thousands of residents from Naivasha have been halted as a result of the land conflicts.
“The people of Naivasha are peace loving people and I have personally talked to them and if you ask any of them, all they want is a permanent solution to the land problem. None of them love the chaos being witnessed here day in day out and they are ready to be part of finding a solution to the land problem,” said Kemboi.
County lands executive said that the county government was doing all it can by working with the national lands commission and national lands ministry to find a lasting solution to land problems, not only in Naivasha but in the entire county.
“Nakuru is one of the counties that are greatly affected by the land issue and the government has given the problem all the attention it deserves and we are working with the relevant authorities to bring the land problem to an end in our county,” she said.
The lands officials are in Naivasha to collect public views about land problems in the area, and how they can be best solved.
