The residents said it was unfair for them to pay the bills, yet they had to purchase water from vendors for the whole month

“I was given a bill of Sh1200, yet I have been buying water daily for the last one month, I would like to know exactly what I am paying for,” said Geoffrey Kimani, a resident

Kimani threatened to boycott paying the bill, saying that attempts to complain to the company had been met by resistance

“We have been asking why the bill was so high only to be told we had to pay the standing charges,” he added

Another resident, Daniel Kamau claims his bill was Sh2975, up from the normal Sh500 he pays monthly.

He threatened to sue the company for failing to supply them with the precious commodity, yet hiked bills.

“It beats logic for us to pay for services we have never received,” he added

Another resident, Joyce Nyaboke, a mother cited that she got a bill of Sh750.

“I have been buying water daily, considering I have a very small baby. I do not understand why I am being charged this high amount,” she added

The residents claimed that despite reports that water supply had resumed in their area, their taps were still dry.

“We do not know who came up with the story that the water shortage had ended, we have not seen a drop of water from our taps,” she added

The water shortage started in December 2014, after water pumps which supply water in the area broke down.
