Kibera residents have attacked the director of prosecution, Keriako Tobiko for asking for more money from the government.
This comes after the National Assembly’s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee asked the DPP to explain why he needed the extra money.
Tobiko had earlier asked to be given sh704 million which he intended to use in three months. He said the money was needed for urgent purposes. He also revealed that the money will be used to fight graft.
The issue has attracted critics from Kibera who have accused the DPP of asking more than what the Ethics and Anti corruption Commission (EACC) is delivering.
‘‘I understand every process in life requires money but what the EACC is doing is not worth such an amount. To some extent, the commission needs money but I feel that is too much for the commission to spend within three months,’’ said Isaac Waweru.
‘‘Let EACC show us how it has fought corruption. Let us see how much money has been recovered back. Let us see the culprits rotting in jail. Let us see that they have delivered before they are given the money. I don’t support the idea,’’ linet Mwonza said.
