The residents led by Dennis Onsombi protested that the chief has been harassing innocent residents after he fails to get illicit brews.

"Miranga village is not an illicit brew den. We don’t have bribes to give to police or the chief for us to run the outlawed business. Ayuma should focus on ending the making and selling of illicit brews in his home village Boisukia where the business is rampant,” said Onsombi.

Another resident Augustine Obwoge accused area Nyumba Kumi officials of cheating the chief that the outlawed business is thriving in the village.

“The current Nyumba Kumi officials should be sent home for misleading the chief. Their plans to get bribes from locals who don’t sell alcohol have failed and now they are trying to frustrate us yet we don’t make or sell alcohol,” said Obwoge.

Obwoge warned that if the assistant chief is spotted in the village harassing residents over the same issue, he will be given a dog's beating.

This comes after the chief stormed the village on Friday morning in search of chang’aa where no one was arrested during the raid.
