Residents of Keore, Kebirigo and Nyang’weta in Nyamira County have urged police officers to beef up security in the region.
The locals said criminals have been hiding in small bushes at night in the region to terrorize residents at night.
“Police officers serving in the region are lazy something that has given room for criminals to attack and steal from us at night.
Police officers should intensify security patrols in the region to flush out criminals who pretend to be alcohol addicts during the day who turns to be thieves at night,” said Hezbon Mboya.
Keore resident Ann Ombui faulted area chiefs for giving a deaf ear to residents’ calls to arrest the criminals who are well known in the area.
"Local chiefs are colluding with the criminals to steal our property. Whenever we report the criminals to chiefs, the chiefs don’t act immediately," she said.
