Residents of Koma in Matungulu, Machakos County have urged the government to hasten the area's security by erecting a police post in the region.
This is in a bid to ensure security is enhanced in the market where insecurity cases have been the order of the day.
Led by their spokesman Simon Munuve, the residents lamented that they used to depend on day time shift traffic police officers who moved from the area.
"We have been struggling with insecurity and over the years, we have been begging for a police post but our cries have been falling on deaf ears," Munuve said.
Munuve said lack of security lights in the market has contributed to security breakdown in the area.
He said thieves take advantage of the situation to camp and terrorize traders and residents.
"Shops are broken into almost daily, residents are mugged and the situation is still the same. We are living in fear," he said.
They urged the Machakos County Government to install security lights in the market .
