Residents of Riosiri in South Mugirango have blamed the management of Riosiri market for failing to manage the market well.
The residents said the market is supposed to run twice a week but due to the poor management that has not been achieved.
While speaking at the market on Sunday, the residents led by Moses Okerosi said the local community has not benefited as they were promised by the county government of Kisii when the market was opened.
"The market was constructed to benefit more especially the local community but the management has failed to deliver. The market should run on Wednesdays and Sundays but the management has done too little to achieve that,” he said.
Okerosi accused Kisii County governor James Ongwae of giving false promise to improve the market.
“Ongwae promised to improve the market by installing security lights for traders to operate late at night but that has not been achieved until today. We are urging the county government of Kisii to stop sideline us and come up with the good management of the market to boost businesses in the area,” he added.
