A section of Kiambu Town residents are without water for the second month now, it has emerged.
According to the residents hoteliers, bar and food joint owners, the Public Health Officers have served them with notices of closure for lack of water in their establishments.
They say that water has become expensive that it is taking a huge chunk of their day to day cost of running their businesses.
"You can't imagine having a hotel where we use a lot of water and you are getting it at a cost of not less than Sh 40 per 20 litre jerry-can," David Kung'u, a hotelier said.
Juliet Wangari who lives at Lockline area says there is a water tank there but they have no water in their homes.
"In a month am now spending close to Sh 10,000 in this pub and at home. We might end up closing down if this persists," she said.
They say it was better when the defunct Kiambu Municipal Council was providing them with water than now when it is under Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company.
"The governor opened various water projects around and we want to benefit too," Amos Mathenge, a butcher said.
They were speaking to journalists in Kiambu Town on Thursday.
