Speaking on Wednesday evening led by Athi River area Councillor Kelly Mutua, the residents urged the government to consider Machakos county refugees who don't own any land.

"I condemn what happened yesterday, land being taken away from residents who are tax payers but instead being issued to people from other counties," said Mutua.

Mutua who is also the Wiper Coordinator called upon the elected leaders to stand up for their people and oppose decisions oppressing the residents.

"We voted for our representatives to speak on our behalf in the parliament and we need to hear them fighting for our rights," he added.

The EAPCC has been involved in land fights with Mavoko residents since 2013 over the transfer of ownership of more than 3, 000 acres of land in Machakos county and its environment.

The land under scrutiny was previously owned by EAPCC but is now off for disposal after all minerals and the cement needed were exhausted.
