Trouble began when two prominent businessmen were allegedly robbed thousands of money before they were critically injured and rushed to a nearby Kapkatet hospital on Wednesday night.

Led by chairperson of Business community in Nyamira Jane Nyamweya and a few locals, chanted anti-robbery slogans besides calling for prosecution of the culprits.

“For how long will we continue witnessing this? We demand explanations from the police and local leadership. We have been paying taxes every time, but unfortunately our security is not guaranteed,” said Nyamweya.

She asked the government to intervene and apprehend perpetrators whom she claimed have been robbing people indiscriminately for quite some time now despite constant reports to the authorities.

“We have in the recent past reported to police such cases, but not action has really been taken to curb to criminal activities in Nyamira,” added Nyamweya.

It took efforts from area MCA Alfayo Mwongeresa to calm them before promising them precise action from the government.

“I have already spoken to the police and administration about diminishing security in this region. If it persist them we will be justified to even stop paying our taxes to both national and county governments,” said Mwongeresa.
