According to the locals, the investor who is yet to be identified constructed a soapstone factory in the area blocking the road from Nyabigege to Omogumo.

“The Nyabigege – Omogumo road has been here for years now. It is a shock for the corrupt investor to claim that the road is passing at his premises and he had no option other than closing it. We want the road to be opened and upgraded because school going children are using the road to school,” said Jared Mokaya.

Another resident Ronald Onsongo said the investor has until Monday next week to unblock and open the road failure to which they will set on fire his factory and force him to move out of the area.

“We will not suffer while cartels are enjoying grabbing public land. The investor has until Monday next week to open up the road or we take the law into our hands,” said Onsongo.

However, area police boss James Wammbua confirmed the incident and said they held successful talks with the investor who promised to unblock the road.

“It is true residents have suffered after the investor blocked the road but we have agreed that the road will be unblocked and it will be upgraded to ease transportation in the area,” said Wambua.

Tabaka MCA Daniel Ombasa assured residents that surveyors will visit the site for the road and ensure that it is upgraded.
