The angry mob demonstrated up to the chief's office after the police invaded and stopped them in the act of punishing three theft suspects who had held captive a man and his wife owning a hardware shop in the area.

The irate crowd threatened to 'impeach' the area chief and his officers for what they termed as negligence in security matters.

Area police officers took time in calming down the angry residents and called for more reinforcement from Thika police station as they were throwing stones at the few AP officers at the camp.

Senior police officer Titus Mutua mobilised the irate residents to engage in a public discussion, where they raised their concerns over the state of security in the area.

This comes a few days after four men robbed a man's residential house and stole electronics worth Sh200,000 and Sh300,000 in cash.

The residents agreed with the AP officers to work together so as to ensure they curb insecurity.
