The members instead blew whistles in parliament, something that is against the laws when one is in parliament.

According to residents in Mashimoni village, Kibera, the act by MPs was against the law since the constitution needs to be respected as well as the president who was shouted at when he was addressing the nation.

“I suppose the opposition MPs who were not willing to attend the address by the president they would have skipped the address. Blowing whistles in parliament before the sitting president show disrespect to the president and the constitution as well,” said Mary Muthoni a resident.

Another resident, Jackson Kariuki said that the MPs acted childish before the president as they were being watched out through television not only in Kenya but in the whole world. As I know making such noise as they did is against the law and one doing such as the MPs did should be jailed for the mischievous conduct.

“How to the MPs wish the opposition behave if their leader is elected as a president. Will they accept other MPs to make unnecessary noise as they did? This was a big shame. The MPs need to style up,” said Philip Mabuka a resident.

During the state of the nation speech, President Kenyatta stopped for a while as Ugunja MP, Opiyo Wandayi who led the others, ODM chairman, John Mbadi, Ruaraka, MP, TJ Kajwang and Homa Bay woman rep, Gladys Wanga were sent out of parliament by National Assembly by speaker Justine Muturi.
