Residents of Kisii's Nyamanga village where on Sunday taken through a interactive forum where they were enlightened on the use of contraceptives.
The forum was conducted by a non-governmental named ‘Mama Care Organization’ led by Griffin Williams composed of five people.
The team targeted to educate the locals on available contraceptives methods in the market and their advantages.
“Contraceptives are safe as long as they are used in the right way. They help us plan our families so that we can comfortably sustain them," said Griffin.
He says small families are manageable and allow us to comfortably sustain them with the resources we have.
“There exist wide ranges of family planning ranging from use of condoms to use of to pills and injections which are easily available depending on suitability to ones needs," he said.
"Do not shy from sharing with your partner and the type of contraceptive you comfortable with. I have heard cases of some individuals disregarding the contraceptives saying they cause infertility and cheating among married partners which is a lie."
Contraceptives are not the reasons one would start cheating he added.
The locals were also taken through private guiding and counseling sessions, those who were interested.
He also urged the locals to make visits to doctors on advice involving family planning.
“Ensure you visit your doctor with your partner so that you are guided on the best form of family planning," he said.
The locals lauded the move saying it was very educational.
