Residents of Nyabweri village in Bomwagamo ward are now a happy lot after the county government officially opened a dispensary in the area on Tuesday.
The project which was funded by the defunct Local Authority Transfer Fund (LATIF), was started eight years ago.
Nyamira County Chief Officer (Health) Douglas Bosire opened the facility whose completion was spearheaded by the county government after the commencement of devolution in 2013.
Bosire said the county government of Nyamira will equip the dispensary with enough drugs, staff and equipment to serve residents who had to travel 20km to Nyamira Level 5 Hospital to get medical attention.
"In our Nyamira Vision 2020 is that we want every resident to access medical care in at least 3km away with our own referral at the county hospital which is almost complete with all facilities," said Bosire.
The Chief Officer also said Nyamira Level 5 Hospital has been equipped with enough medicine, the same with all county health facilities and urged residents to make use of the facilities which offer affordable services.
"Use government facilities that have qualified staff and where you can get affordable services," he said.
The county government of Nyamira has employed over 300 medical officers to serve in all government health facilities in the county.
In this 2016-17 F/Y, the county allocated Sh1.9 billion to the Ministry of Health.
