Speaking at Igonga Ap police post, area acting chief Truphosa Orina said that the fight against illicit brew is on since many residents are involved in alcohol drinking.

"Many people in the location are involved in the illicit brew for that reason I will not hesitate to deal with those involved in selling and drinking alcohol," said Orina.

"I call upon all residents to help in fighting the illicit brew business that has brought about the breaking up of many families," she said.

Henry Nyabuto expressed his happiness since the fight against illicit brew began in the area.

"I am happy for the crackdown, chang'aa has broken many families due to irresponsibility once one is engaged in alcohol drinking," he said.

"I support our chief Mrs Truphosa Orina in the fight to end the illicit brew business in our location since it has  pulled us back in terms of development," said Jane Nyamoita a resident.

"Residents should be engaged in other business activities rather than selling illicit brews like chang'aa," she added.
