Over 25, 000 residents have registered for the recently launched Kiambu 'Digitika' County Master Card.
The county’s ICT officials have opened mobile stations across the sub-counties in a move to ensure they register every willing resident of the county free of charge.
Speaking from office on Wednesday, ICT Director Douglas Gicho said many of the residents mostly motorists have opted to acquire the card to facilitate payment of parking fees and other county government services.
He pointed out that the ‘Digitika’ programme is aimed at facilitating stress free collection of revenue and ensuring that collection gaps that had previously led to a lot of revenue ending up in the wrong hands are sealed.
The ICT Director said that the card favours everybody from the young to the old since it only requires an identification card and a mobile phone for one to be registered for the service.
The system also comes with enhanced features that will enable the county staff to securely track the process through the use of modernised debit cards in order to avoid any loss of money.
Gicho expressed optimism that the ‘Digitika’ Kiambu county card will enhance the establishment of a trustworthy forum for exchange of information between service providers.
