Gatuanyaga MCA Joseph Kahira has asked farmers in his ward to adopt greenhouse farming to increase productivity and returns. Addressing the farmers when he visited women groups that have been practicing greenhouse farming on Thursday, the MCA said greenhouse farming is the way to go.  "This area receives minimal rainfall as compared to other parts of Kiambu County. That means we cannot entirely rely on rainfall to feed ourselves and get something to sell. We need greenhouse farming that does not rely on weather patterns," said the MCA.He said he would push the county government to provide greenhouse construction materials to farmers as well as drill more boreholes in the area to provide them with irrigation water. He lauded the women for the initiative which now enables them to grow food and cash crops throughout the year irrespective of the weather patterns.
